This article bothers me for a number of reasons. I really wish the article would do a better job of explaining why the team feels this is a worthwhile project for the school to pursue. I can't imagine that it will be a cheap project to do, and when the school is trying not to spend a huge amount of money, there should be a good reason for any project to occur. Also, the advancements in "robot technology" are quite scary for the job market. With unemployment already high, it gets me nervous that some jobs could soon be overtaken by robots.

This robot is really cool. I have never heard about this before now, even though I am going Carnegie Mellon University. I have a feeling that CMU has a lot of cool things like this that they are making and developing that never gets out of the departments that they are made designed and made in. I find that a great loss to everyone in the college community, may students could have interest in their developments and could be good for collaboration. I was just wandering around last semester and I found this interesting room in the Gates building that was full of these small robots that appeared to play games. On another occasion I saw some interesting things in a different robots building on campus. I just wish that this group would maybe mix a bit more with the rest of the campus community.

This reminds me of our secretary robot in the Newell-Simon. My cousin is a professor in the robotics department and worked on the that robot with a School of Drama collaborator. The secretary is a woman who can interact with you and relate to things you say. You can hear her talk to her mom on the phone or complain about her boyfriend. The thing about that project was that her life was meant to continue. Her social life develops and she can interact with you in a much more personal basis than you'd think a robot could. It's an incredible thing, I remember my cousin talking about it for some time. I bet this project is a continuation of that one. I do wish they gave more information.
