Kidd Pivot explores ephemeral nature of dance in 'Action'

Post Gazette: "What happens to a dance when it's over?
Does it vanish, never to exist again?
What if, like a painting, a dance could live on forever?
These are questions raised in 'Lost Action,' a piece by Vancouver-based dance troupe Kidd Pivot, which makes its Pittsburgh premiere Saturday at the Byham Theater, Downtown, opening the Pittsburgh Dance Council's season."

From the article, the performance seems to be very powerful. Dance and movement is such a broad art form, so much can be done with it. I would be interested to hear more about the design of the show, and how much it interacted with the movements of the dancers. Just the colors of the backdrop already played a part in telling the story, how much were the designers able to communicate?

The issue of time which this article talks about is exactly why I didn't like designing sound. You spend lots of time on something which is so fleeting, and you can't listen fully to two sounds or dance two dances at once. It is too frustrating a concept for me to devote my life to it but its tragedy is the source of its beauty.
