Post Gazette: "The whodunit musical 'Curtains' makes its Pittsburgh debut, joining 'The Producers' and 'Hairspray' as first-time Pittsburgh CLO productions for the 2010 summer season.
The splashy pop opera 'Miss Saigon' returns to the CLO spotlight, along with the season-opening 'Oliver!' June 1 and 'The Student Prince' to close the season in August."

What a great season lined up for the CLO. Oliver is always a great show for summer stock as it is a well known family favorite. This year it seems to be trying to reach out to more families then any other audience demographic compared to last years season. Last year the summer was filled with more depressing musicals like Les Mis and Into the Woods, this year they are going all happy and fun with Hairspray, Producers, and Curtains!
"That's part of our mission, to do shows for audience development, to bring new audiences to musical theater. It's also to revive the classics." I think that this is a great statement and goal to achieve. I like that they are trying to reach different types of audiences. Too often a theatre keeps with one style of shows, and I really like how they are taking on different types of shows and running with it. I would really like to experience this line up.
I wouldn't necessarilly describe this season a "Great". I think it is good but not excellent. I am particularly excited to see Hairspray and how that is handled given it is a recently new addition to regional theatre lineups. I was sad to read that "9 to 5" didn't make the cut due to availability. It would have been great to see that make its regional debut here in pittsburgh.
