www.wpxi.com: According to his parents, music and an unlikely friendship saved their severely disabled son’s life. He loves going to concerts and a few stagehands have taken it upon themselves to make each one an experience to remember.

This is an amazing story. I think that as a industry that is full of prestigious and famous people and of events that many people look for, we are in a position to make people happy by doing the simplest of things. I know that for me, if I were to work at a Broadway theater, I would try to surprise audience members with really cool experiences or gifts like this guy here. This was something I learned at Disney. Disney will give away ice cream and merchandise on a very frequent basis to guests just to make their day. In the long run, it is a small act, but it would have huge effects on your audience base and make so many people happy.
The reason that I am in the arts is to make people happy. This article and video make me so proud that the entertainment industry can give so much to this person just to make his experience special. I also like that this practice of giving to this disabled man has been passed on to each person that works for the theater. No matter when they go to the theater they know they will get the access they need and then some.
I worked in house management one summer and I was told by my boss to check tickets but if someone didn't have one or tried to get by without one that I should just let them go because it was more important that they see the show than that the theater got the money. This theater had the luxury not to need the money but it seems to me that they would have had this policy even if they did. I also think that at many other places this sentiment holds true that the individual guests experience is more important than making money or selling merchandize.
It's amazing to see how the little things can bring so much joy to someone. I am in this business to make people happy, I'd like to think. Even if my work only affects one person, I'd be happy. When I am out of college and working, I hope to one day be able to do my best to bring joy to anyone I can, even if it's something small. This story inspires me to be a better person and has helped me realize there are still some nice people out there, especially in the entertainment business where at times there can be some "nasty" people. Such a great story.
Ohh this is just inspirational. It's always really sad when tragedy strikes a family. I can't think of something harder for a parent than to see their child get hurt.
And these parents, instead of giving up, are doing everything for their son. I'm so glad they found something that he loves doing.
The stagehand is the most amazing guy ever. The way he takes care of Neil. It just shows how so little can make such a big difference in someones life.
