What Is Milwaukee's Most Expensive Tool? (And What Makes It So Pricey?)
www.slashgear.com: Having recently celebrated its 100th year, Milwaukee Tools is one of the oldest companies in the world to manufacture tools. With a wide selection of products that include heavy-duty power tools, hand tools, instruments, and accessories, the Milwaukee brand runs the gamut from simple DIY repairs to heavy-duty, professional-level projects.

Wow, this is the third Milwaukee specific post I am commenting on this week. Somebody out there is spoiling me. I always find these super-specific tools to be very interesting. Especially one priced as high as this. Usually I assume that there are brands which specialize in making these tools, instead of more general tool companies trying to stake their claim. However, this product seems to be really good at what it does, even if priced at almost 12k before tax. Given the specificity of the tool, I would be willing to bet that there are indeed competitors who only make this type of tool, or make a couple tools that surround the job market this one is designed for. I would be really interested in comparing the prices and specs of the tools. While Milwaukee might have a larger wallet overall, they have to spread their wallet and knowledge over a wide breadth of tools. However, a company specialized for this market can focus in on what really matters for their products, despite maybe not having as much total funding. It would be an interesting experiment.
I think its funny that the only people who have commented on this article are me and Jeremiah. No tool article will go commentless on his watch. Onto the 12k sewage inspector, I have always been fascinated at looking through tool catalogues and looking at all the devices I would never purchase or need, and while, when I was young, I wrote off the SawsAll and even the impact drivers under that category, oh how wrong I was, this tool is so specialized to one kind of work that I can never see myself forking over the 5 figures necessary to own it. If there was ever a world I needed to utilize this tool, I would rent it for a day or hire a professional who already owned it, because that would be significantly cheaper and I wouldn’t then need to figure out where in my apartment to store it. While I would love to have an extensive collection of power tools one day, this exotic plumbing implement will stay in the catalogues for me. SawsAlls and impact drivers on the other hand…
