I think this article did a really good job of providing a deep understanding of the current state of theatre in London. I was especially interested in the notable mention of Giant, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and Fiddler on the Roof as the top winners. I appreciate seeing new works such as Giant tackling a multi-faceted topic—like Roald Dahl's anti-Semitism—while also being critically acclaimed. I found it exciting seeing Benjamin Button as it was awarded Best New Musical, as I am drawn to creative adaptations, particularly adaptations that involve folk music and literature. Learning about artists like John Lithgow and Imelda Staunton, who continue to evoke such strength with their performances is so eye opening, and I loved how there were some shoutouts to technical endeavors such as set, lighting, and sound design, as this area often goes unnoticed! As someone who is interested in producing, this article made me contemplate the multitude of facets involved in a production. This article reminded me of the creativity, teamwork, and ingenuity involved in creating theatre for audiences.
