Fashion and costume designer Zac Posen takes sunsets seriously

Fashion | dailycal.org: Walking around the UC Berkeley campus, spotting girls on Upper Sproul in striped scarves and waffle-knits, one begins to wonder — is Gap cool again? Or, perhaps even more noteworthy, is Gap chic? At the crux of this question, is acclaimed fashion designer and former Project Runway host Zac Posen. Now executive vice president and creative director at Gap Inc., Posen somehow finds the time to wedge costume designing into his busy schedule.

This article is a reminder that once you have a career, there’s still time to create and that there should always be time made to create, especially as an artist. Oftentimes, artistic careers take away the love and passion that draws us in initially. It’s important to find time to go back to your roots and do the thing you love in order to keep the flame burning. I find it soothing how well-known designers like Zac Posen still look to nature for inspiration. I love using nature as my inspiration, since it’s always there and there’s so much to take from it. Sunsets are so beautiful, and what’s interesting is that you always hear that no snowflake is the same, yet sunsets are the same way! I believe there’s a lot to take from sunsets and all the light and colors they have to offer.
