Death Becomes Her Will Launch North American Tour in Fall 2026
Playbill: Broadway's Death Becomes Her musical is hitting the road! The show, current running at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre since opening November 21, 2024, will embark on a North American national tour, launching in fall 2026 from Cleveland, Ohio's Playhouse Square.

2026 is a bit of a scary number, because in 2026 (which is literally next year) I will be starting my senior year of college (which is terrifying), but the existence of a national tour of Death Becomes Her does make that number a little less scary. I’ve been wanting to see this musical basically since I first heard about it, and every different song I heard, review I read, clip or photo that I saw really increased my desire to watch this show. While I know that the theatre community tends to be hesitant about Big Flashy Musicals based on movies, I truly absolutely love big flashy musicals based on movies that exists purely as cash grabs from people who remember the movie and are in NYC looking for something to do. They’re fun! I like fun shows! While this will certainly not be the last Big Flashy Musical, it is one that I hope I get to the chance to see on its tour.
I was recently in New York! While I was there, I saw the Broadway production of Death Becomes Her. I did go in with pretty high expectations because I had heard so many great things about it, but this show still knocked my socks off! Everything about this show just felt extremely thought out and complete. In addition to the production, all of the music is amazing too, which can be rare in musicals that are based on movies. Death Becomes Her was just such a spectacle! My favorite elements were the costumes and set. Paul Tazewell cooked! Every single costume was stunning! The entire ensemble had an incredible jumpsuit set. In one of Megan Hilty’s songs, she has what feels like 10 costume changes, and every one of her costumes were perfect. The set also just felt endless! I have no clue how they fit everything backstage. I really want to see this musical again! Hopefully it comes to Pittsburgh soon!
