Meyer Sound PANTHER delivers precision audio at Arena Vienna
LightSoundJournal.com: Arena Vienna, an iconic cultural institution with roots in the 1970s counterculture movement, continues to be a vital hub for music and art. To meet contemporary acoustic challenges, the complex recently upgraded its outdoor sound system to a cutting-edge Meyer Sound PANTHER™ system. This new installation enhances the audience experience while minimizing noise impact, ensuring “the Arena” remains a premier live venue.

Reading about these improvements for Arena Vienna inspires confidence in good planning and proper execution in live event production, as well as demonstrating the complexity behind sound system design. The careful placement and focus of minimizing sound spill is incredible to hear as technology has improved to the point of being able to survey and model in 3D how sound will interact with the space to then properly design the system according to the needs of the venue. While I’m sure Arena Vienna has the money to do this and the investment is worth it to prevent constant noise complaints and potential complications with Austrian law, I wonder moreso about how long of a process this was and the overall cost for both the consulting and actual execution of the project. When is it advantageous for a business to properly invest in a sound system like this one? Further, how long will an investment like this take to pay off and how much revenue was lost (if any, installation could’ve been in a less busy time) due to the time needed to implement the system. It is incredible to hear about the final product, but it would be amazing to learn more about how this came to fruition.
