I have never really thought about how churches would also need amplifiers for large sermons. I guess I have always thought that the church acoustics would naturally carry sound to the audience. Another thing I did not think about at all was how a lot of the audience at church sermons are made up of elderly people who are hard of hearing and how to make the sound as accessible as possible. Reading this article enlightened me a lot on how to design for different audiences and how to take their needs into consideration. I feel like often when designing and engineering for people that do not need or understand all the fancy high tech gear that a lot of the entertainment industry uses, it is best to always go as simple as possible and explain everything in detail. The other thing that I took away from this article is to listen to the end result so you know what to improve for later gigs.
