Making Safety Accessible: Inside The Efforts Of Start-Up Custom Earplug Company Crystal Guardian
ProSoundWeb: As a musician and live sound engineer with a father who has had severe hearing loss since he was a young musician, hearing health has always been a priority to me. I really appreciate that this company is trying to make an often overlooked safety protection, earplugs, more accessible. We often neglect to properly protect our ears (even when wearing earplugs most of us don’t put them on the way the manufacturer intended, or in a way that fully protects your ears). Custom ear plugs are often incredibly expensive, and it’s really exciting to see people actively trying to change that. Their business model makes a lot of sense to me, and I really hope that their time in the field is a long one. To be able to make PPE like earplugs but at a higher quality is an invaluable service. I have had a hard time finding a pair of earplugs that actually fit me correctly, and something like this would honestly be incredibly useful. I really do hope that this company thrives and is able to continue growing.
