This interview with Rima Najdi, a Lebanese performance artist, offers a fascinating look at how her work challenges societal norms, especially through feminist and political lenses. In pieces like Dress Me How You Like, Najdi critiques the stereotypical portrayal of Arab women in Hollywood. I really like her uses of humor and playfulness ways to portraits problems. Her approach is deeply rooted in her lived experiences as a woman from the MENA region, using performance to embody and confront the physicality of emotions and violence. Her work made me think about what I, as a woman, can do to change people's perspectives and engage in discussions about these issues. Her work also interrogates the politics of borders and the refugee crisis, especially in her piece Think Much. She uses immersive storytelling to explore the mechanisms of border control and the human experience of displacement.
