The "Golden Rose" 1770's Pet en L’air

The Sewing Goatherd: Upon completion of my fuchsia silk, rose-trimmed 1770’s petticoat, it was time for me to stop procrastinating and actually re-fit and finish the pet en l’air to go with it.

This is really incredible. I know how to sew but my skills really top out at button attaching and basic repairs. Maybe a small quilt if I am lucky. So to me this is really something else. I know that designing and fabricating period pieces is hard to do both due to different experiences and trouble with patterns and general supplies needed to get the right look so to be able to successfully create such a complicated dress is really impressive to me. Let alone the fact that she is also a Goatherd, what?! That is so cool. She is really living the dream life there. The little roses are a particularly beautiful touch I think. A very simple, but very lovely addition to tie the entire costume composition together. It is especially impressive in the fact that apparently it was at no cost to her as the materials were gifted to her. I sincerely hope she finds a place where she she can wear her Pet en L’air out without getting caught in brambles.
