The Acclaimed Israeli Actor/Director/Dramaturg Roy Horovitz, makes His Pittsburgh Debut in His Production of 'My First Sony'
onstagepittsburgh.com: Based on Benny Barbash‘s Israeli bestseller by the same name, the play has toured Israel and the globe to great acclaim and rave reviews for over 20 years. It tells the story of Yotam, an eleven-year-old child, who becomes obsessed with documenting his life after receiving a children’s tape recorder, his “first Sony.”

As someone who sees a possible future in the Israeli Theatre and general entertainment industry this is extremely exciting. Especially as it is being done with the help of Rodef Shalom where I have attended services many times. The show itself seems extremely interesting and nostalgia inducing which is something I would love to see. The intersection between the Torah stories and the theatre industry is something that I find very interesting, especially as the plays and musicals are from a pretty Christian cultural lens, at least in the United States of America. I also was not aware that Classrooms without borders is housed in Rodef Shalom which would be a wonderful opportunity to get involved as it is so close geographically to CMU Campus. I definitely do not hear as much about the Israeli theatre scene as I do the American or British ones so this is a great opportunity to learn more about that possible future venue.
