Santa Fe Opera adds a COVID-19 safety manager
Business | santafenewmexican.com: The Santa Fe Opera has a new cast member for the 2021 season: a COVID-19 compliance and safety manager.
Mike VanAartsen joined the company in that role in January. He’s setting the opera’s guidelines for masks, social distancing, hand sanitizing and all the other safety protocols that go with preparing for a summer opera season and welcoming patrons for performances.
Nobody has attended an opera in Santa Fe for more than a year. Things have changed.

This makes so much sense! I'm honestly surprised that I hadn't heard of other companies doing this sooner. It seems like companies hire a specialist for pretty much everything, down to the way the store is arranged, so it makes tons of sense that there would be a specialist for Covid during this time. I would even go so far as to say that there should be a sanitation expert at all times, because people can still get sick, even if it isn't so serious. Whenever I go grocery shopping, it seems like there isn't a really good system to sanitize shopping carts everywhere. Some places have clear-cut areas where dirty and clean shopping carts go, but not everywhere is that easily set up. I think by including a specialist on the team just to see if what was thrown together when the pandemic started is properly safe. I'm excited to see that the steps are being taken to have people back in seats again in the theater.
