Blue Man Group co-founder Chris Wink collaborates with Area15—and the possibilities are infinite
Las Vegas Weekly: You might not immediately recognize Chris Wink’s name or face, but you know his hue. A co-founder (with Matt Goldman and Phil Stanton) of Blue Man Group, Wink has been steadily expanding Las Vegas’ feel for the surreal since BMG arrived at the Luxor in 1997.

I was drawn into this article by the mention of the Blue Man group. I saw them in Chicago a couple years ago, and I remember being absolutely fascinated by the theatrics of the performance. Even if the group themselves were a little creepy and off putting. The bright and fun colors, sounds and textures were almost mesmerizing and really drew you in because of how different they were. I am excited to hear that their creator has a new project. I imagine that this new world that he has created is just as mesmerizing and crazy fun to be in. I think this is the kind of art that needs a place like Las Vegas to thrive in. A place that is already known for crazy sights is the perfect place to put crazy art. I hope I get to see this new creation when I can travel again. It seems like it would be a lot of fun to get lost in.
What a cool exhibition! I feel like in the age of social media, we keep seeing more and more of these eye catching, psychedelic, walk through exhibits, but I’m not complaining. Judging from the images and videos I’ve been able to find, Wink’s World just seems like a fun and funky place to stop by for an afternoon. It's really interesting to see an artist like Chris Wink step away from a project so financially and critically successful like Blue Man Group. I completely understand getting bogged down in the administrative side of things so much that you feel like your art is paying the cost. Still, it couldn't have been easy to say goodbye to what I assume is like his artistic baby. But honestly who wouldn't take a job when their new title would be “Director of Cool Shit.” I’m really excited to see what Chris Wink does with this job title next.
