I love period fashion and costuming, although when I think of it in terms of TV and movies I usually think of ballgowns and flapper dresses. It is very interesting to think of a show having "period costuming" for the 70's and 80's. Although the fact that both eras happened not too long ago, and more recently came back into style, was probably a benefit in the designing of the wardrobe and in acquiring pieces. I also find it fun that the designer was able to work from her own photo albums and yearbooks for inspiration in the 80's wardrobes. Thrift shopping was also a very creative tool to use in both collecting inspiration and actual pieces. It was also interesting looking through the images from the show and thinking that the outfits were very cute and trendy based on todays standards as well. This just goes to show how styles go in and out of fashion and what is retro or vintage at one time may come around to be trendy at another.

This article had such a wealth of information! I am not familiar with this show but any piece that contains multiple decades having to be represented is a tough challenge. It was reassuring to hear that the designer did some of her research on pinterest!! I love pinterest so much and is often a jumping off point for me when designing a show. I also found it interesting that the designer used research from her own materials. I have often used paper sewing patterns be of inspiration as they are so plentiful and they have fantastic illustration of the clothing. Ah what fun that thrifting trip would have been! While I was home during winter break, I went to a small town where I went to all the assorted antique shops I could find and to look for anything I could find related to sewing and fashion. Overall really great article!
