Election Statement from the IATSE Pride Committee
IATSE Cares: As members of the LGBTQIA+ community, we are proudly voting for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris for President and Vice President. The past four years under Trump and Pence have been disastrous for our community and we need real leaders like Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to move our country into a more accepting and inclusive place.

Yeah, I would hope so. Queer folks that vote for Donald Trump are people I will never be able to understand. I suppose it's an example of selfishness, but they would be losing rights at the same time. Does money matter so much to people that they would give up their human rights and the human rights of countless others in order to gain more? It kind of reminds me of the queer folks that actively attacked trans women in the 80s. It makes me so angry because trans women were the ones that gave those queer folks the movement and voice. I watched a video explaining the phenomenon of, quite often masculine gay men but really it could be any queer person, putting down "lesser" queer folks, whether they be younger, more feminine, or gender non-conforming in any way. The oppressors in this situation are likely to be the most insecure with their sexuality/gender, and they want desperate to feel superior. It comes from a place of shame and pain, and I seriously think it's sad.
