Soundly Collections Help Editors and Sound Designers Tell a Better Story with Sound
Sound & Picture: Soundly, an audio technology company and maker of the popular cloud-based, sound effects (SFX) library and workflow tool by the same name, today released Soundly collections. Soundly collections streamline search while inspiring creativity when creating audio soundscapes for common scene locations and environments such as kitchens, car chases, offices, horror, outer space and more.

This article describes the efforts of the company Soundly to create a platform where sound designers can make new and interesting sound effects and soundscapes for productions. I have always been a little confused by sound design; I never really understood where the creativity could come from if a designer was creating sounds for things like an opening door or a phone ring. I am slowly learning that there are endless options for these effects and great opportunity for creativity. I think what Soundly is doing is very interesting because it is allowing designers to explore the many different options for everyday activities and for more unique moments. Sound design is just like any other area of design; sounds have many connotations for many people and having a certain sound in an unexpected place can cause certain emotions in the audience. I hope to become more involved in sound design so I can learn about all the many ways that sounds can affect people.
