Although this article was a little lighter on content than I was expecting. It brought up a few interesting points that Jeffrey Seller mentions. To me, the internet has had some obvious positive impacts to the theater industry. This article briefly mentioned Be More Chill, which was pretty much single handedly brought to Broadway by the internet fanbase. I agree with Jeffrey Seller when he says that the internet has done a lot for Hamilton too. Hamilton is a diverse musical for a diverse audience, an audience not always found in the $400 seats on Broadway. I know that there have been several efforts to bring this musical especially and others to a more diverse audience, but the fact that the Hamilton soundtrack got so many hits months after it had opened showed that Broadway wasn't wide enough to appeal to the audiences that are interested in Hamilton. Overall, I think the internet has the capacity to reach all types of people and if that is what Broadway wants to do, the internet can be a great tool.

I have always admired Jeffery Sellers as a producer. His career is something I hope I can achieve in the time following graduation. Anytime he goes on a podcasts or does an interview I will always spend the time to listen to him. He is one of the younger producers having been young when he produced rent back in the 90’s. ever since then he has been changing broadway. He is the one who invented the student rush ticket for Broadway. Hes thinking on social media and Broadway I think is very correct. A show will be able to survive longer know based on their fan base from the internet such as Instagram and twitter. The biggest example of this which he mentioned Is Be More Chill. This show has 200 million streams on Spotify and just had a production in NJ two years ago before coming to New York this season. I am excited to see the future of theatre and producing in such a social media era.
