USITT Architecture Awards Announced
Stage Directions: USITT has named the winners of its 2012 Architecture Awards. The two theatres earning the Honors awards are: the AT&T Performing Arts Center Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre in Dallas, Texas, featuring work by the architecture firm REX | OMA with associate architect Kendall Heaton Associates, Inc., consultant work done by Theatre Projects and acoustics consulting by DHB B.V; and the Royal Shakespeare & Swan Theatres complex transformation in Stratford upon Avon, United Kingdom, with architecture work done by Bennetts Associates with Charcoalblue as theatre consultant and Acoustic Dimensions as acoustical consultants. These awards, and several others for merit on other theatre projects will be given at a special session of USITT’s Architecture Commission on Friday evening, March 30 at the 2012 Annual Conference & Stage Expo.
