'Spider-Man' on Broadway: No superpowers needed to sniff out this stinker

washingtonpost.com: "NEW YORK - If you're going to spend $65 million and not end up with the best musical of all time, I suppose there's a perverse distinction in being one of the worst.

The thing that makes me so angry about Spider-man is that people are going to see it. People will pay the ridiculous fees to get a ticket, for a show that is a. Not finished, b. keeps failing, and c. is not supposed to be that good. People could pay a lot less to see shows that are actually good, have some merit, and have a plot but no, people just want to go and see the biggest flop ever in Broadway history. Just by slapping to giant names on a project does not mean that it will be good or work. Just because you can always spend more money to get all of the other resources does not mean that you should! Like we learn there is always a scope of show and I think that they people who created this show believe that their scope is unlimited. Spider-man is a gross perversion of what theater is it is all about shock value with no real merit under it. From the pictures I have seen the set is very cool, the stunts are very cool, and the whole show visually is very interesting, but without a good story this means nothing. Without a story our industry just becomes special FX and I think it is much more than that.
