Edgewater High School in Orlando Gets New Building, New Gear with PRG and Elation

Stage Directions: "I did all of my performing in high school either in the school gym or the cafetorium, so any place with a dedicated space always seemed incredibly luxurious. Edgewater High School in Orlando, Fla., recently opened a new $83-million arts building with a dedicated auditorium equipped with an advanced professional lighting system from Elation Professional. And from the sound of it (the auditorium’s ceiling had caved in), they needed it. Production Resource Group Orlando handled the install, and the kids will reap the benefits.

This is wonderful, that this high school got this renovation is so great. Besides the fact that I am completely jealous that my high school was not nearly this well equipped, I am so happy that these students and students for years to come get to reap the benefits of this amazing space. Not only will hopefully help cultivate a new found love of the arts in new generations, but it will also hopefully interest the community more. Even stepping away from the conventional lighting is great because these kids can now learn all of this new technology which can help make them real players in whatever field that they would like to go in. The only downside that I can see is that almost anywhere that these kids go to college they will be sorely disappointed that they are not as well equipped. But then at least they can learn how to do it in many of the spaces that they will work.

This is ridicules. A high school is better than most university’s and high schools. I have never seen or heard of something that nice. The one thing that they said was that they went with this company because of the cost. I have a feeling that this course is very dumb after a few years maybe only half of this equipment will be working and maybe even be a fire hazard, causing a fire. The one thing that seems cool is the wireless system that is installed in this theater. I wonder how reliable it is, I have heard of similar systems that just don’t work, but none the less I am sure that this will cause kids to love what they are doing and make more kids pursue theater tech.
