The variety of programs at Carnegie Mellon University is one of the reasons why I chose to attend this school. The interdisciplinary program here is one that isn't often found at colleges, or at least that is what I saw in my research. Even if one does not participate in multiple fields, it is still important to have a campus where there are students learning about very different things. Being a part of a very focused conservatory, I knew I didn't want to attend a school which only had the arts. CMU is the perfect place to make friends who are not just in dance, drama, or music.
Along with Sylvianne, one of the main reasons I chose Carnegie Mellon was because it had a variety of programs outside of theater, and the arts. The ability to learn in vastly different programs at the school is something that was one of the main draws for me. It allows for people to get the most out of their college experience in whatever way they decide to. Also, having people around you who are pursuing very different majors than you is also a great asset because it gives you a different perspectives on the world around you. It's great to see someone take this to their natural conclusion and be able to pursue their dream job after college
One of the reasons I love CMU so much is that it's not just really good at one thing; it has extremely high quality in several different programs. As a drama major, it's difficult to take advantage of the variety of quality classes offered, but it's something I try to keep in mind when I pick my classes for each semester. It's great for people such as Scully who have interests that may initially seem like polar opposites but actually work really well together.
