Roland AR-3000R and Time Code
- John's Blog Main Page - : "OK, this is an INTENSELY geeky post. If you're not a show control nerd, feel free to skip ahead now. If you want to see what the exciting world of show control is like, read on, but there's probably about 50 people in the world who will find this interesting... Sigh. MIDI is useful, but i think we keep holding onto it and using it for things that it wasn't designed for.
I'm fearful that someone's going to invent MIDI over fiber optic cable - then we're all screwed. no more time delays to deal with, but we'll still be forced to use SYSEx commands that nobody knows what they mean other than the company that made them.
As standard as MIDI is, it's not very inter operable when you get down to the fine print.
