It is hard to imagine that simply the attendance of the president or his family could spike sales to such an extent. The complete obsession of the public with famous figures is to be expected, but that they should have such a great influence with sales seems a bit ridiculous. However, one can only hope that some one who is in such a high position would be educated enough to know what good theater is, so perhaps they would be a good judge of a show.

Maybe the next big thing in Theater marketing is celebrity endorsements! Sure, critics write reviews until the cows come home, but who cares if President Barack Obama (or his family) loves it! Perhaps instead of famous names in the cast, we put famous names in the audience's seats. Even if someone doesn't agree with everything about the celebrity, obviously the show might have something good if they take time out of their busy schedule to go see this broadway show. Who knows, but it might be an effective tactic.
