At first I was very confused with the logo, thinking when did this become our logo? I mean its cute but I had not seen it before. However, I know that the showcase is a huge deal and I will do what I can to support the endeavors of my classmates. I really enjoyed the cabaret last night, so I will also find something I like here, purchase it and wear it proudly.
When I went to this site I was a little confused by the logo. It was a little hard to read with the style that the letters are in. The colors are fun though, but I wish it was easier to read. I can't wait to see the other fundraisers the seniors come up with, I hope the idea of selling breakfast on the weekends works out!
Best of luck to the Seniors in there endeavors.
I really like the new logo for the SOD. When I first got the email about this from Dick Block, I was really excited. This is such a good idea to raise money for the senior showcase. I've already sent the link to a few friends and to my parents. I'd love to buy something to support, and show my SOD pride. :) I hope they keep the shop up for years to come. I wonder if towards the end of the year, we could take over part of the lobby to sell this stuff before shows. I'm sure people coming to see shows might want to buy something as a souvenir.
I see all these students walking around campus with their CMU Engineering gear and I've griped about not having SOD clothes. Naturally, I'm thrilled that there are now a wide variety of clothes to pick from. I too wish the font were a bit easier to read, but once you figure it out its a really cool design. I also think that the vibrant colors are indicative of how high energy the SOD is and I really like that because we have more fun than the engineering students and our logo shows that.
I agree with many of the sentiments above. Upon first glance at the logo on the shirt, I was extremely comfused and did not understand it. But upon looking longer, I realized what it was. My mother was here for parents weekend and and saw tha the Engineering students all had shirts. She really wanted one that said "School of Drama" but the bookstore does not have those. So when I saw the email from DIck Block, I quickly forwarded it to my mother, but opening it I realized it was not what she wanted. The modern interpretational new logo is one that not all people will enjoy. I propose that a new style of shirt be availble, alongside this one. It would draw a wider range of costomers and provide a higher profit in the end.
I am glad that there is some new ideas for the senior showcase fundraising, and the ideas of having clothes for sale is a plus--I have wanted a CMU Drama shirt for quite some time. However, I do not think that this logo best suits our school. We value new ideas, but we also have a very strong sense of professionalism. Not so much a fan of the logo for that reason--I don't think it looks all so professional.
Good luck to the seniors, though.
I wonder if the logo reads better in person. Maybe that's a tactic to get you to buy it rather than just looking at it on the screen...
This is a great idea as a fundraiser for Showcase, especially since the bookstore doesn't sell a lot of SOD apparel. I'll definitely buy something to support the seniors, even though I'm not crazy about the logo.
I agree with Sonia and Katherine, I find this logo to feel a little disconnected with the School of Drama and needs to become more simplified in order to become more readable. I think a re-design would boost sales of these items. Among the better ideas, are selling treats to crew members during crew calls. I can
I always assumed that the logo for the CMU SoD was the one we put on our digital drafting. The weird paper craft, partial circle one that's one the site isn't exactly something someone like me would want to wear. The fact that the logo can interlock with itself is kinda cool, but given that that's the only part of the logo I like, I'm not a big fan. The logo just doesn't really seem to represent what the SoD is about, just how we're viewed on campus by the other majors.
So what is our logo??? There are no close ups of the images or what the logo really is.
This is a great idea because it takes the labor out of the fund raising work. However, I think the website needs a bit of help to be more functional and user friendly.
Good luck to the senior and 3rd year grads. We are behind you all of the way and will support you at every turn.
While I understand the arguments of everyone else. However, I actually really like the logo. I feel like it is colorful and unique, like many of the people in our school. They only thing I wish is that there were sweatpants! I love sweatpants! But in general I like the logo and I hope they develop more clothing. And I would agree with Tim that maybe there should be a more official looking logo for parents and others who aren't running around campus. Perhaps the actual Drama school logo that is on all the paper work could make a good logo for proud parent shirts.
