What's onstage at Shakespeare theaters in September
Folger Shakespeare Library: Fall is coming and with it the return from vacation to school and work, clubs and community meetings, and a new theater season. Check out what’s playing at our theater partners across the United States this month. What do you hope to see?

I think just the fact alone that there are so many theater companies in the United States that are still alive and thriving is in and of itself an exceptional thing. To have such an old playwright (comparitively) still be celebrated and performed all over the world is something truly remarkable from a global and historical perspective. This is especially signifiancnt because of the infinite different versions of Shakespeare productions. Specifically, I think Chicago Shakespeare Theater’s production of Julius Caesar is something really unique to look forward to! I think incorporating rap into this production is such a creative way to go about the performance, and with the culture surrounding the company to back it. A Shakespeare “add-rap-tation” sounds so fun and funky, and I’ve never heard of a Shakespeare production like it before. Moreover, the fact that they’re using 80-90s music to rap with the lines adds to the rap aspect of it notably.
