Looking Glass unveils 'new category of holographic display'
AV Magazine: Looking Glass has launched a razor-thin display that can transform video into lifelike 3D holograms.
The Hololuminescent Display (HLD) enables users to create video, media and interactive experiences using standard tools, deploy content on existing video infrastructure and display it as 3D holograms.

I admit, this looks quite impressive at first glance in the filmed demo. Though, it seems to just be a smaller parallax screen? Not quite sure that this is really that interesting, given that this technology has existed for a few years now. I remember hearing about parallax screens first being used for commercial purposes around 2023, and the projection company Barco had an experimental development program for that until very recently when they cancelled the project. Don’t get me wrong, I think this screen looks very impressive, but calling it holographic or groundbreaking is a bit of an overstatement. I think I mentioned in a post last week that I had seen a demo of a real hologram over this past summer at InfoComm in Orlando, and that seemed more groundbreaking than what’s been unveiled here. Who knows, perhaps it's more impressive in person that it appears on video.
