I don’t usually read articles like this but I decided to read it anyway. This was actually a pretty helpful article. My carpentry teacher has suggested we build a tool kit if we’re interested in working in our shop, which is something I’ve begun to consider after taking the class. While I may not need most of these tools at the current moment, it's nice to have an understanding of tools that can be useful for the future when living on my own. Growing up, I would always help my dad with what he was building and reading this made me realize that it would be smart to own my own set of tools for any instance I decided I wanted to build something for my own future home. It is nice to read something different once in a while. Because of that, I realized that the screwdriver kit may be something that I’ll consider purchasing soon. I've noticed I needed a dedicated screw driver when working on things at home, rather than borrowing from my dad all the time.
I have to admit, I feel a bit lied to when the article name said “five tools” and the first tool is 65 tools. All these tools seem pretty cool. It’s not super clear who the article is marketing towards, so it’s a bit odd to have the home toolkit next to the saw with included miter jig. They all look like fine tools, though. I’d be most interested in trying out the ratcheting precision screwdriver, though it’s not often I work on hardware that small. Realistically, if I bought one of these, it would probably be the vice grips. They’re so amazingly versatile – they can be pliers, clamps, any size of wrench or type of screwdriver, but primarily a hammer. The chisels also look good. I’ve never used a DeWalt chisel before, but I imagine they would be good. I think the lack of a name-brand hand tool line is a big gap in the market. Tools like Milwaukee and DeWalt all seem to be primarily power tools – it would be interesting to have a single brand for all your hand tools, too.
