Unfortunately I wasn’t able to catch “Stranger Things: The First Shadow,” when I was in New York, but I have seen the show and wish I got to see the other part of this story and how they conveyed it onstage. With such an effect-heavy story, I did wonder how they were going to pull this off in front of a live audience. After reading about the INFiLED LED wall, it seems like such a perfect solution. I liked how they highlighted that the wall blended with the stage and other scenic elements, rather than just being a giant high - tech screen that takes away from the storytelling element. I think for shows like Stranger Things where the effects and dialogue are of equal importance to the storyline, it is important for the visual effects to not take too much away from the depth of the characters and their overall storyline.

While Stranger Things: The First Shadow opened after my last New York City trip, I have been able to hear from friends who have had the privilege of seeing it, along with seeing their promotional images and videos. It clearly won a special tony for tech for a reason, they didn’t just say “hey here you go.” The VMD use in this show, specifically with the panels, is extremely impressive, and very beautifully done. They don’t distract from the show like some video panels do, rather they add to the show, and you can see the thought behind it. Learning of the specific manufacturer of the panels is awesome, and looking at their website their panels are clearly on the high end. The specs they have are quite impressive, and the fact we are able to use basically 4k panels for a show, and them having a very long life span and not needing to be replaced unless damaged, is very impressive, and shows how well developed the industry is getting.
