Go Backstage at Upcoming Broadway Return of Beetlejuice the Musical
Playbill: As previously reported, the first national tour of the Tim Burton–inspired musical is set to come to Broadway's Palace Theatre for a 13-week limited engagement beginning October 8. The run will continue through the holidays, playing its final performance—which will also close the tour after a three-year, 88-city run—January 3, 2026.

I am super excited to hear that beetlejuice is making a comeback to Broadway! This musical is a technical theater dream, but also a nightmare! As a technical theater student, this show is a black and white amazing dream, this show has an astonishing visuals, from the oblong scenic design, the variety of dark colors, the lines and shapes that create the house all the way to the “underworld” filled with giant snakes, demons, and supernatural effects. To say the least I am immensely obsessed with all of their technical elements, so getting the chance to have a peek behind the curtain is an amazing experience. I love getting the opportunity to see how the magic is built, how it works, and how it looks on the stage! These photos are filled with the magic of backstage and it is heartwarming to see the friendly connection and connection that the actors have behind the curtain.
I have seen Beetlejuice on Broadway twice and each time it has lived up to its reputation. I got to see it in previews and then during its run. It was very interesting to see the changes between previews and run. There were a lot of jokes that they tried out that got cut. A few that I understand and a few that I was sad about. It made me realize how important previews are, especially to new works, to test out jokes in front of an audience. There are plenty of jokes that seem like they could work on paper, but flop in front of an audience and you will never know which jokes are which until you get an audience. One of the jokes that I was sad that they cut but understand why they cut it was there were a lot more ukulele “fake outs” in previews than were in the run.
I’m so happy that Beetlejuice is coming back to Broadway even if only for a limited engagement as I absolutely love the show. I’ve seen it three times (got tickets when it was announced and then won the lottery twice) and enjoyed the show with every iteration of cast members. I am also a huge Tim Burton fan so it is such a marvel to see his worlds come to life right in front of me as if I’m on the film sets. This musical has also had such an interesting journey when it comes to being on Broadway and the life it has lived, and it only continues to be unrelenting continuously coming back to Broadway. I think it is a great time to come back right before Halloween since that show is so perfect for that holiday. I wish the creative team and cast the best and a great run to close out their three year tours.
I’ve actually never had the chance to see Beetlejuice before, though I always really wanted to. That’s why I’m so excited it’s making a Broadway return, even if just for a limited run. I’ve heard so many people say how funny and delightfully weird it is, and I really love musicals that lean into humor and goofiness. I feel like it all makes the whole experience become extra lively and memorable. I also think the timing of this comeback is perfect. Having Beetlejuice back on Broadway right around Halloween feels so fitting, and it’s going to add a great seasonal vibe for audiences. The cast looks fantastic, and I am really excited to know about the vision the creative team has as I have no doubts it is very unique and playful. I really think this run will be a big hit, and hopefully I’ll finally get the chance to see it for myself this time and experience the fun and exciting energy everyone always talks about.
Beetlejuice is such a fun show! From having a massive massive sandworm prop to having all the projection mapping you can ask for and it being gel city, and it also having an amazing story overall, I absolutely am so happy it’s coming back to NYC for the halloween season! Considering previous box office results, I think it has enough demand to last the short term, which it’s going for, but not really the “long term,” as I think their just isn’t enough demand. Unfortunately, Beetlejuice is more so a fun show to see once then it is a deep story with rewatch-ability. While yes, some parts of beetlejuice can be considered slightly deep, not all of it is even close to being deep, which is unfortunate for a show with beetlejuice’s tech scale. It will be very very interesting to see how this turns out, and how the box office turns out for them.
This backstage artivle about Beetlejuice really peaked my interest. I’ve seen the show before but there’s something electric about seeing the cast and creative team preparing for its broadway return.Seeing Justin Collette as Beetlejuice and Isabella Esler as Lydia in the rehearsal shots makes me want to fly to NYC and see the show now. The fact that this is part of a national tour’s final Broadway stop adds a kinda sad edge, its exciting to go back, but knowing it’s wrapping up soon is disappointing. Also, seeing all the technical artistry behind the scenes between the costumes, lighting, puppets, and illusions makes me appreciate how much work goes into something that feels so wild and fun on stage. Can’t wait to see how it all comes together, even though i wont get to see it live.
I saw the national tour of Beetlejuice about a year ago and I really liked it. I came into it with low expectations because I typically do not like shows that are adapted from other really popular things. I usually think they are overhyped and never the same. However, I was really surprised by it and how well it was done. I think it is really appealing to all groups. It is kind of flashy but justified and it really does a good job of working alongside the show everyone knows and loves. I think it is genius to bring this back to broadway for the halloween season. I do wonder about the payoff of getting the show built and opened again vs how long it will run for. But if I was in New York during this run I would totally go see it again. I will also say that as a stage manager it is one of my dream shows to call because it is so fun.
