Honestly when I was choosing which college to go to for my graduate degree I did not really focus on the program setting me up for a career. Despite that when I found CMU and read about the career focused nature of its MFA program it really caught my attention. Now reading about the things that alumni are doing and the awards they are getting it is really exciting. It makes me look forward to the future, and the connections that I will be able to make through being in the Drama program at CMU. It is also a major comfort to know that there is a good list alumni who I will share comradery with due to the connection of CMU. It would be cool to be apart of a show that wins an Emmy or some other award, and to be able to add to CMU's alumni that have gotten awards. Regardless the main take away that I get from reading this article is that I am excited to be a part of the shows at CMU, and to say that I have done the technical design for some of the sets that are on stage. Especially when you consider how well known CMU's Drama department is, and thusly the people or groups that may see the shows and the connections that the shows can then create.

When you're looking at an article like this I think its super cool to see all of the Carnegie Mellon people succeeding in the industry. 21 is truly so many nominations for how small school of drama is. I like that they use the nominations as an opportunity to talk about why the program at CMU works and how that sets graduates up for success. I also like that this article was mostly highlighting d/p, because I think pieces like this often focus on performers. As a freshman I obviously have not yet experienced a lot in the school of drama, but I can already see a lot of the things they talk about in this article, and I know they will set me up for success in the future. A Lot of this is why I chose to come to Carnegie Mellon over other schools, and am very happy with my decision.

This article is honestly very inspiring and motivating to read. To know that such phenomenal artists have gone through the experience I’m going through right now and have walked the same halls as me is INSANE to think about. It really makes me feel confident that if I just commit myself and try hard, I can truly reach those heights and follow in their footsteps. It makes me extremely proud that I was able to get into this program that has trained and built up all these incredible people. It’s also nice to now be able to say when reading these articles, “Hey! I know that person!” I’m super excited for Hailey and I hope she has a blast on her trip! I also completely agree with her on the fact that we get a lot of helpful real-world knowledge because it, as she said, goes “hand-in-hand” with our field. Overall, this article makes me very hopeful for and confident in my future.

10 Emmy awards and 21 Emmy nominations is an astounding number. For such a small program, the Carnegie Mellon School of Drama has such a large network of alumni, many of which have achieved tremendous success throughout the greater entertainment industry. The fact that we can graduate and immediately be able to be employed within the industry is simply incredible. As a student within the School of Drama, it’s astounding to see the levels of success that our alumni are achieving and knowing that is a result of the program that I’m in at this moment. I’m also starting to see much of what Logan and Hailey said within the article ring true within the beginning of my studies here. Also, it was fun going through this article, reading Hailey & Logan’s quotes and going ‘oh hey I work with those people on crew every day.’ The highlighting of Design & Production, which isn’t often mentioned, was really nice to see. It's all quite inspiring to know where we're headed.
