From V to You: It’s Time to Fight for Mother Earth
AMERICAN THEATRE: “We want you to panic; we want you to act. You stole our future and we want it back.” With headbanging passion, the youth-driven cast of the new musical Dear Everything rocked it out at New York City’s Terminal 5, in a one-night concert in January, with a message for adults: Do something.

I’ve seen this show! I was lucky enough to get a ticket to see WILD: A Musical Becoming at the ART in Cambridge MA back when it did its initial showings. Idina Menzel performed but had barely even rehearsed and read from a script throughout the performance. It was very rough-shod but the show was really moving. Despite the ramshackle appearance of the costumes and set pieces there were some very powerful and striking moments during the performance- one I remember vividly was a part involving a vision of a monstrous grain harvester that devoured the landscape. I think this kind of theater is really important as it speaks directly to the current state of our world- how automation and technology destroy the natural beauty around us and how our course of action might destroy us if we continue along it. I got to meet V after the show and they talked at length about the importance of art and action in combatting the formidable horror of the future we have built for ourselves.
