I was not expecting the commentary provided by this article through the affiliates of the Morning Show on AI! I really enjoyed this article. I thought that the combined commentary on AI and feminism was a really interesting and important mix. Stressing on AI, I think the creator’s and writers' fears and overal negativity towards AI in the entertainment industry (particularly film and TV), is completely warrented. The world we live in is unprecedented, and navigating the use of AI is difficult, but I agree completely with this article that it must be separated from human art and will never be comparable simply by definition. On another note, touching on the push for women’s stories, it’s great to hear celebratory sentiments coming from people such as Reese Witherspoon. Witherspoon has often played iconic and complex female characters, which demonstrate both the struggles and need for equality. Her character in this show showcases that as well, and I hope she continues to provide outlets and attention towards actionable feminist struggles and empowerment.
Even in today’s world there is still a remarkable gender discrepancy in performance fields. Where-as some people automatically associate the performing arts as a very inclusive and progressive space, to which they are not wrong, however when you stop to look at the demographics of the people at the very top there is still a lot of work to go, especially in the world of film and television. If you want an easy comparison, look at late night shows. How many late night shows are there headed by woman? Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers, Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert, the answer is little to none. With our government taking a little too close of a look at live television, all headed by men it is scary to think of what would happen with women in those positions. Despite the scary world it is great to see the rise of women like Kelly Clarkson and Reese Witherspoon in the TV space and I hope that women will continue to rock it.
