‘The Penguin’ Won These Eight Emmys Before The Main Show Even Started

www.forbes.com: While it’s certainly possible to say that the superhero genre as a whole is largely ignored by most awards shows, short of the occasional Heath Ledger Oscar win, what is arguably the best superhero show ever made, The Penguin, has changed that narrative.

I had heard so much about the Penguin since its release and all throughout the summer within family and friends and it really surprised me how big the show became. Especially considering how superhero universe movies, but especially television shows, rarely break into the mainstream. Though, I think this show has the same allure as The Godfather and doesn’t really need you to know any of the Batman or superhero lore before watching. I started to watch it recently and am about halfway through the show, and it is super fun, brutal, and brilliantly acted. Particularly Cristin Milioti’s performance as Sofie Falcone is truly spectacular and she is a tour de force on screen. I am glad that this show is getting its flowers and I hope that Milioti does as well regardless if she wins the award for Lead Actress against her also talented competitors or not (though I hope she does!).
