The development of media production in Texas is happening at a wildly fast rate. Last week, I was reading about a Houston media festival and the incentives going towards media production within the state. This week, I am reading about how the incentive is already being put to use. I think that Fort Worth is honestly a good spot for this production to occur because of the amount of land and people in the area. Also, Texas has pretty much every environment you could ask for except for snow. The talk of media and movie production has been an idea forming for years now, they just needed to find the right place and gain the money. Many people thought it would thrive in Austin, Dallas, or Houston because those are the major cities, but I think those cities are already built up enough. By creating a studio in Fort Worth, I will allow for the industry to expand there and grow in the North.
Seeing this happen in real time is just so exciting, and I absolutely cannot wait to see what will be created by having access to this technology in that area. From an education standpoint, I think that this would make so many amazing opportunities for young filmmakers to flock to this area in search of work, which would turn Forth Worth into a flourishing creative hub. Much like what Netflix is doing in Albuquerque in tandem with the University of New Mexico, I am curious to see if something similar will happen by placing this campus here. With the death of hollywood occurring before us, there is almost a race to see where the next boom in the film industry will take place. Even with lots already established throughout New Mexico and other select areas within the american southwest, that does not mean Forth Worth doesn't have just as much of a chance to make its mark within the film industry.
Okay so as a North Texas resident, specifically only a few minutes from where this massive production hub lives, I have quite the wild story. I have heard about the new incentive to increase film production in Texas, however, I didn’t realize I was made aware of this months ago. My mom recently listed the dishware that I grew up with on Facebook Marketplace. It is a unique original set by a small artist in New Mexico, and this woman took an interest in it. She came by to pick it up and it turns out that she is a set decorator for this new Paramount establishment, currently working on the Yellowstone spin-off. So now the cups I grew up drinking out of are going to be used by the main couple on this show. There has historically been very little theatrical opportunities in the North Texas area, thus I have had to move and explore other parts of the country to work in the industry, but now I am excited to see if I might be able to spend a summer at home with my mom due to these new developments in my area.
