I was expecting to see a lot more classical ballet on this and was pleasantly surprised to see all of the new unique pieces that are coming to the stage. The first thing that caught my eye was the production of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. I couldn't quite discern whether the production was a musical or truly just a dance piece. It seems like it is a musical, hopefully headed for Broadway. Anyways it caught my attention because it highlights an important time in history that we don't see a lot of musicals and art about. I love seeing that black stories are being highlighted and recognized in the dance community, a community that is not notorious for being the most inclusive. I am also so excited about the Gentleman Jack show. It is so exciting that we are seeing more gender inclusion and breaking of the norm in ballet. I have recently seen male on male partnering but I have never seen female on female partnering. This is so awesome.
