Bryan Buckley and Paul Epworth are at work on Broadway-aimed ‘Fyre Fest’ musical

www.broadwaynews.com: A new musical is in development based on the failed 2017 Fyre Fest music event. Titled “Fyre Fest: The Musical,” the show will feature music by Academy Award and seven-time Grammy Award winner Paul Epworth and direction/libretto by two-time Academy Award nominee Bryan Buckley, who is also one of the musical’s producers. “Fyre Fest: The Musical” is aiming for a run on Broadway.

This is kind of a wild take to be honest. I hope it’s a comedy (it better be a comedy, I don’t think I could take this seriously as a drama haha.) I also feel like this would maybe fall flat on a public audience? I’m not sure how many people are like, actually aware of Fyre Fest and how it failed But maybe that’s the point: to introduce the public to what it was and how terribly wrong it went. I think that by showing what went wrong it opens peoples’ eyes to what goes into such huge festivals. I know it would help me–I struggle with the size and scale of budgets. A comedy-cautionary tale would be cool to see. Cancelling a huge festival upon guest arrival is a crazy thing to do; I can’t believe they didn’t figure it out sooner.
