I will continue to talk about theatre sustainability and "being green" within in theatre space because it combines two of my passions. Theatre and environmental conservation. If I weren't going into the field of theatre and working in the arts, I would be studying environmental studies. I read an article last week about the Broadway Green Alliance and how they were hosting a textile recycling drive. This week, I am reading about how they are getting involved in Climate Week in NYC, which highlights their active involvement as an organization. I think in theatre it is especially useful to know ways to be sustainable or be able to have the ability to, because theatre is a very wasteful industry. No matter how much we try to reuse and recycle, the industry continues to be wasteful. So not only is the Broadway Green Alliance a great way to spread advocacy, but so it the Climate Week occurring in NYC.
