Todd McIntosh on Emmy-Winning Makeup Career, Buffy, Dark Shadows, More
www.indiewire.com: Do not underestimate the power “Dark Shadows” holds over an entire generation.

It is so cool to hear about all the different movies, tv shows, and general productions Todd Mcintosh worked on. I think it's really cool to see how his knowledge and talents have also progressed over the years. A quote that stood out to me in this article was when he said that “all makeup is painting. All makeup is art. So it doesn’t matter if you’re doing old-age makeup or a vampire or glorious makeup on a woman. It’s all highlight, shadows, structure, and color.” I've realized overtime that makeup artistry gets very overlooked in comparison to other practices in production because it is at such a smaller scale. But makeup artistry is so much more difficult that it looks, not only is part painting, but the makeup artist has to work on a new canvas with new materials the majority of the time they work. Prosthetics are also particularly difficult and extremely finicky.
