An Oakland Dance Troupe Brings Vertical Choreography to Broadway

At first this reminded me of aerial silk dancing, and it still does in the way that humans long to fly, but with a twist and fundamentally different in the application, it seems like there is more bouncing off of surfaces rather than being entwined with the rope. I like how mobile Bandaloop is, being able to perform in non-traditional spaces like the sides of buildings and cliff faces, which I would love to see in person, I wonder where they would prefer their audience to be looking at them from. It was also nice to see their emphasis on safety and that they acknowledge it as something that should and does affect their rehearsal timings and progress. I hope we see more non-traditional performances in non-traditional spaces, it seems like such a fun avenue to explore.
