Disney Costume Designers Fulfill Make-A-Wish Kid's CINDERELLA Dream

www.broadwayworld.com: Disney’s costuming team fulfilled the dream of Make-A-Wish kid Rita by working with her on a custom dress. The Cinderella fan had a one-on-one gown design session with Disney designers to create “Rita’s Rose Diamond Dress." See photos from her visit, which also included a tour of their costuming building and fabric library, character meet-and-greet, and more!

This is really wholesome, and I love to see children getting their wishes fulfilled. One thing that stood out to me/I have a question about is did they make a custom dress for her, and if so did she get to keep it? That's what I was originally lead to believe with this title/when I started to read the article. But then it goes on to say that they "created a magical, Disney-inspired gown for Rita, also including a doll-sized replica of Rita’s dress for her to keep." This makes it sound like she didn't get to keep one that was made to her size, which would be disappointing. Nonetheless, I'm sure this was a cool experience and I'm glad the kid was happy. If she is an aspiring costume designer, then seeing their studios/workshops would be really cool. You know what they say, Happiest Place on Earth.

I love that Rita was heavily included in the process of her special dress being made. The fact that she was able to get a behind-the-scenes look into the world of Disney costume design is amazing. It also sounds like being a part of the make a wish trip was a highlight for the costume designers who got to interact with Rita. It makes me so happy to know that Disney is doing so much to make the children in the make a wish program feel loved and appreciated, I know from experience that having someone in your family who is going through cancer treatment can be a scary time for the whole family. It can mean the world to not just the patient but also their family to see them being truly full of joy and wonder. An experience like the ones provided by Disney for these families can be a happy memory for these patients and their families to look back on for the rest of their lives. I know how scary cancer can be and I wish all the best for Rita and her family.

This is really wholesome. I think it's really nice when designers can work to make a child's dream come true, especially if this girl is sick and using a wish. It's very touching, and her gown is beautiful. It's very gorgeous and very pink and very cute. I don't know I think Disney does a really good job with my question I just think it's really nice to see this girl getting her wish fulfilled because she's living a terrifying reality, and the stress is gorgeous, and I know she's going to look gorgeous in it so it's really touching to see that there are still I guess good people in this world. I know that sounds really cliche and corny, but honestly, with everything going on in this world, it's nice to see that this little girl's dream can come true, and she can look so beautiful and have something to make her happy. It's such a rough time for her.

Life, existence, it's so complicated. Disney has had a history of mistreating its employees, but how can you condemn a company that brings so much joy to children in need? I can’t help but try to run the numbers line in the Good Place. The net good versus the net bad to see if their overall impact is in the red or green, but unfortunately it's not that simple. It comes down to the people. Yes the people at the top, the CEOs, who quite literally run the company, but also every other person employed by the company. The people who have a direct impact on the guests and customers, the college-age custodian who plays pirates with a crying kid. But people are also a mixed bag. In the end the best you can do is do your research, be an informed consumer, and support the companies you believe in.

This story is honestly so sweet. I really love that Disney went all out to make Rita’s wish come true. She didn’t just get a dress; she got to actually design it with real costume designers, which is more than anyone could ever ask for, especially for a kid who loves fashion. I can only imagine how exciting it must have been for her to walk through all those fabrics and see how costumes are made. The fact that they even made a tiny version of her dress for a doll is such a cute touch. What really stood out to me was how much this meant to everyone involved. The designer talked about how she was in and out of the hospital as a kid, so this whole experience really hit home for her too. You can tell this wasn’t just another project for them. It really mattered. I think it’s really cool that Disney keeps doing things like this. It’s not just about the dress or meeting characters; it’s also about giving families memories they’ll never forget.
