Ringing It Out
SoundGirls.org: After immersing myself in the fast-paced world of live sound from a young age, I’m taking a step back this winter to refine strategies and establish best practices for delivering consistent sonic success moving forward. This SOP is intended to streamline workflows and help achieve reliable, high-quality monitor mixes in festival-style settings. It condenses years of hard-earned experience into actionable steps to ensure artists have the monitor support they need to perform at their best.

I feel like often with sound it is hard to have a streamlined process because everytime you mix for a gig, you’re in a different space where nothing will sound the same as a previous gig so reading this article was super interesting and informative. Having a list of things to do in your head before you go to a space and sit down and do it is super nice because you can have a broad idea of what goals you want to hit but still be dialed into the space and the way it rings so that you can pay a lot of attention to the details and make sure that your mix is good for the room very consistently. This article, though short, was super informative and I felt like it was a good refresher for someone who is just starting in the industry. They had a lot of key points to keep in mind and it was a very straightforward article.
