Gay Men's Chorus of Washington D.C. Responds to Cancelation of Kennedy Center Performance
www.broadwayworld.com: The Gay Men's Chorus of Washington D.C. have responded to The Kennedy Center's recent cancelation of their concert with the National Symphony Orchestra, "A Peacock Among Pigeons: Celebrating 50 Years of Pride." The move, which came shortly after President Donald Trump appointed himself chairman of the Kennedy Center's board, stirred apprehensions about the influence of the Trump administration on federally affiliated cultural institutions.

I have so so so so many thoughts about what is happening at the Kennedy Center right now. And I have a lot of thoughts that conflict about all the shows that are pulling their runs and people are refusing to work. First of all, what is happening makes me so upset and I do not agree with the ideals being used to lead. And while this article is about a cancelled event I have been feeling a little conflicted when people who are doing the good work or shows that tell the good stories pull their runs. To me it almost feels like we are giving them the power, like they now have the ability to bring in whatever shows they want and whatever shows align with the ideology and are willing to perform. I understand both sides and share the frustrations but I have always struggled with the idea of leaving an environment when someone who does not have everyone's best interest in mind enters.
