Latest Broadway Demographic Report Shows Tourism Dollars Are Boosting Broadway
Playbill: The data shows something already seen in grosses, that Broadway's box office is continuing its recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, if it hasn't yet reached the highs of the 2018–2019 season. But there are some heartening trends that may indicate we could see that sooner rather than later. The season saw 45% of attendees coming from other areas of the U.S., and 21% from international theatregoers.

I think it's really exciting that broader demographic reports are showing that dollars are boosting broadway. I think that since covid Broadway hasn't been the same and you know you see a lot of shows opening on Broadway and then leaving Broadway within the year which is like relatively quick for a Broadway run considering all of the work that has to go into production and pre-production and rehearsals and designing the show so it makes me really happy that Broadway is being sort of boosted back up to where it used to be because seeing live theater is really incredible and are imitates life and it's just it's a really beautiful thing to have but obviously to keep Broadway running they need money so I'm glad that they are getting the money that they need to keep this wonderful industry alive and thriving. I look forward to going to see more Broadway shows once I go back home over the summer.
While it is so exciting to know that more people are watching theater than before and the statistics show that we are getting closer to what the 2018 2019 Broadway season looked like it is disheartening to know that a lot of people don’t see theater is the people that should be seeing theater I’ve talked about this to a lot of people that a lot of the messages that we have in the electrical pieces and what many people are trying to show with their art are not reaching the crowds that should be listening because they are not theater goers or they are just so uninterested and living in their own world that the message is being told to people that already believe the same thing. I also think that one of the reasons why Broadway is not at the Heights of the 20 18, 2019 season for tickets is because of how much the tickets cost. Many people do not value the importance of going to the theater as they did in previous years and they do not see the significance of it so they are not willing to spend more money or any money on this experience.
