I'm pretty excited for the grand opening of epic. I enjoy seeing new pictures or hearing about different aspects of the park. I actually have a couple of friends who are going to be working there.
Going to Universal Studious or Downtown Disney as a kid (and even now), one of my favorite parts has always been seeing the fire come out of the fire sculptures. When in Diagon Alley and you start to hear the growl, everyone stops to watch for the dragon blowing fire. In Disney Springs, you can see the Rainforest Cafe Volcano go off from almost anywhere. It's mesmerizing, and people really love seeing pyrotechnics. Relatively speaking, it's not a difficult thing to install a pyro fixture somewhere in the park, but it is something that always succeeds in drawing attention. I'm excited to see what the park as a whole will look like. I'm sure it will be successful. (As if Orlando really needs another theme park).
I have never been to Universal Studios but I have always wanted to experience it. The Universal Epic Universe section of the park seems like just my kind of dark fantasy. I can’t wait to hear about the final result of the attraction. I am, however, a bit unsure about a flaming windmill and what challenges that will bring to the continued upkeep of the attraction. I think that any attraction that deals with pyrotechnics may need an additional level of upkeep and this upkeep can break the illusion of atmosphere in the park if it is in view of onlookers. I wonder what sort of materials they are constructing the blades of the windmill out of and how they are feeding fuel into the system while it rotates or if it is a fully self-contained pyrotechnic unit housed on the spinning apparatus itself. On a separate note, I bet the epic universe attractions will be the place to be come Halloween, the perfect time for monsters, ghosts, and ghouls, especially with their upcoming monster makeover Experience.
