I might just live under a rock, but I had not heard anything about this new Cirque du Soleil show until reading this article. This show sounds super exciting, especially since new resident Cirque du Soleil shows aren’t the most common, and certainly not Cirque shows in Hawai’i. Based on how the article describes the elements of Hawaiian culture and history referenced in the show, it truly sounds like a really perfect performance to fit into the Cirque style. It’s really exciting to see the general layout of Cirque du Soleil resident shows expanding, since the scale of the resident shows is so much larger and grander than the touring ones (even though those are already pretty huge operations) and expanding the ability to see these performances is really neat. Hopefully, the premier of ‘Auana implies a new trend of new resident Cirque shows inspired and collaborating with the history and culture of the place where they are being established as resident shows.
