I really enjoy seeing when theatre and film based companies branch out to other industries to apply their skills. Cinnabar moving from a small workshop in Hollywood to a fabrication company that works on projects for basically any industry is so cool! Its the same thing with costuming or hair and makeup or sound; I just think its really neat how so many of our tech skills transfer to other areas that you might not initially think could be connected to theatre. Its really sad to see the company is closing; the projects they took on were so cool and unique. I can't even begin to imagine the breadth of fabrication techniques that they utilized there, working there and getting to discover and use all those techniques must have been so fun. But on the other hand I really admire their ability to step back and evaluate that they cant successfully thrive in the fabrication industry anymore without selling out. It is deeply unfortunate that that is what is apparently necessary to survive.
