I went on a trip to Europe in 2019, and seeing the Cathedral was one of the things on our itinerary. I remember the day we found out about the fire, just two months before we were supposed to be there, and we looked at the news and watched as it burned. That was certainly a sad day. But they started reconstruction so quickly and have been doing incredible work on this building. I love that they used the same tools as were used in the original construction of the cathedral. They could've done it much quicker and more easily with modern technology, but it holds a lot more value because of the way they chose to do it.
It's incredible that the organ didn't sustain any major damage in the fire or from the water. After a a full cleaning, the organ is good as new. I'm sure it was a very emotional moment for many to hear it played at the grand opening. It's truly remarkable that in just 5 years years they were able to fully restore the cathedral.
